Unless they are crazy when I see someone yelling at someone in NYC I don’t think it is ever about that particular moment. They’ve instead bundled up all the other baggage they’ve been carrying and have decided to unleash it all right there for our viewing entertainment. People who yell back think they are dealing justice to a crazy person, but they don’t realize the rest of us on the subway just see two crazy people fighting.
